Women's Seminar on "Fighting Terrorism Together"Organised by the WIN Council, the women's seminar on 'Fighting Terrorism Together' was held at the Civil Defence Academy for about 400 women participants on Saturday, 18 February 2006. The Guest -of- Honour was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Wong Kan Seng. The objectives were to educate women on the threats of terrorism and the important roles grassroots leaders play in times of emergency. |

Job Fair for WomenJointly organised by the South West Community Development Council and WIN Council, the 'Job Fair for Women' aimed to encourage women over 40 years old to contribute to the workforce was held on Friday, 21 April 2006. Shape Up, Feel Great @ Southwest CarnivalIn conjunction with the WEC's 40th Anniversary and International Women's Day 2007, WIN Council published a 40th Anniversary Book. It traces the developments and major activities organised by WECs over the last 40 years. The book was launched during the "Shape Up, Feel Great @ South West" Carnival by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. |

WIN Awards DinnerMore than 900 WEC members from 104 WECs attended the Inaugural WIN Awards Dinner held at Meritus Mandarin Hotel on Sunday, 2 March 2008. The highlights of the event included the launch of the Dual Membership Scheme, the Miss and Mrs WIN 08 Pageant and the WIN Awards Presentation Ceremony. Mr Lim Boon Heng, Minister, Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Chairman of People's Association, was the Guest-of-Honour for the evening. Many MPs also lent their support to this event. |

Miss and Mrs WIN Pageant 2008The aim of the Miss and Mrs WIN Pageant 2008 was to profile women grassroots leaders who are able to juggle career, family, grassroots work and lead a healthy lifestyle. 12 finalists emerged from 119 contestants to contend for the titles of Miss WIN, Mrs WIN, Miss PAssion and Mrs PAssion. Miss Lina Chong won the titles of Miss WIN and Miss PAssion, Mrs Yvonne Yee emerged as Mrs WIN and Mdm Helen Chua took the title of Mrs PAssion. |

Dialogues with women MPsThe Council organises dialogues regularly between female MPs and women from various backgrounds, including students and professional bodies such as Singapore Association of Women Lawyers, Institute of Certified Public Accountants Singapore and Association of Women Doctors (Singapore). Led by Senior MOS for Finance and Transport, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, issues related to women’s employability, work-life balance, day-off for maids, threats of terrorism, national policies and workfare are raised and discussed. |
