8 Tips on Home Renovation & Decor

  • Communicate with your interior designers on the budget to set the right expectation from the start.
  • Break down your renovation budget into general works, carpentry works, furnishings and styling/decoration.
  • Consider a home renovation loan instead of using cash so as to avoid using credit cards (that comes with a higher interest rate than that of your renovation loan!) for essential purchases later on.
  • The lowest bid does not necessarily mean the best bargain as you cannot ascertain the service and quality you will get. To ensure professional services and high-quality results, look for a reputable interior design firm.
  • Modern theme is always a timeless trend. It's safer to adopt a theme that will last for years to come rather than themes like retro, resort or country that will fade after a while.
  • Simplicity is beauty. Keep to minimum design and colour for your walls and floors.
  • The right combination of curtains, furniture, lightings and home accessories such as rugs and artworks will add colours and create the ambience for your home.
  • Mirrors and glass will make your home look spacious, bigger and elegant.

It'll be useful if more tips can be shared on various topics, eg. what can be done to maximise deadend corners? Looking for some tips.
